The Match

Daniël Stellwagen (Netherlands) and David Baramidze (Germany) will play complete chess in Maastricht, The Netherlands from 10-13 February 2004. This fourth match organised by the Chess Events Maastricht foundation will be a 4-game encounter between two young talents from The Netherlands and Germany. The match is sponsored by ChessBase, Paradigit Computers and Centre Ceramique.

David Baramidze

David Baramidze [27-9-1988] is one of Germany's strongest youth players. He played many tournaments achieving the IM-title at the age of 14. By these results his ELO has risen to 2463.

Daniël Stellwagen

Daniël Stellwagen [1-3-1987] is Holland's biggest talent since Jan Timman. At the age of 15 he gained his IM-title in 2002 and achieved two GM-results in the Corus Tournament 2003 and the Dutch Championship 2003. His ELO at Januari 1st was 2489; in the Corus Tournament he added 13 points reaching a virtual 2502 rating.

Complete Chess

The players are allowed to use computers like in advanced chess and get the time limits from classic chess. Both players are free to use ChessBase software during the game. The available time is 40 moves in 2 hours and 20 moves in 1 hour. Thereafter, 15 minutes and 30 seconds per move. We call the result ‘complete chess'. All games will be broadcast live on www.chessevents.nl, where you will find more information about the match, daily reports and pictures.
